1.When I Purr it usually means that I am content. You probably perceive this as a sign of affection, and you are right. However, sometimes I purr when I feel scared or anxious. Check to see what my tail shows you.
2.Meow is my greeting. I like seeing you.
3. When I Hiss or Spit I’m telling you that I am angry and don’t want to be disturbed.
4. Sometimes I Chatter when hunting or tracking. Since my gaze is fixed and staring, I don’t realize I’m chattering. I don’t know why I do it because it alerts my prey, but my toys don’t notice.
5. You may have noticed that I greet people and other cats by rubbing against them and keeping my tail upright “Question mark shape” indicating happiness or friendship.
6. Mostly I communicate through my tail, ears, eyes, head position and back posture.
When my tail held high it is a sign of friendliness. My tail might quiver or vibrate when I’m excited to see you. When my Tail is held low or tucked under, I’m telling you that I am afraid and may need to cuddle with you. When my tail Flickers or Twitches I’m telling you that I am agitated or upset. But most times, I do this when I’m pretending to pounce on a mouse. Then you might see my tail oscillate in a snake-like fashion before I pounce. BTW Thanks for the toys.
7. My eyes greet you with a slow long blink to tell you I love and trust you. I like it when you imitate my behavior by looking me in the eye and slowly blinking. That means you love me too.
8. I’ll bet you didn’t know that I have a special “perfume” in my cheeks which I rub on chairs and couches to claim them as my territory. Sometimes, I even claim you as mine. Sorry about the hairs on your pants; it just happens.
